Happy New Year! Keep Your Business Presence Fresh with New Portraits

Do you love your webpage?  Has it been a while since you last updated it?

It's a good idea to keep your website looking fresh by updating your images, and making sure your message is up-to-date.

One way to keep things fresh is to have a new business portrait taken.

Our studio is conveniently located minutes from Concord Center.  With several backdrops to choose from, in-depth consultations (if desired), and advice on clothing, jewelry and hairstyles, we can help you achieve the look (or looks!) you want.

Some clients come in looking for a standard "Head and Shoulders" pose - a classic look in business attire on either a dark or white backdrop.  Once we have that, we might try for another look by doing a clothing change.  A man might swap his blazer for a sweater, change ties, or even change his shirt and blazer.  A woman might change blouses, jewelry, or jackets.

My goal is to capture several different looks so that you have options.  Your LinkedIn page will probably have a more conservative look while your personal FaceBook profile image might be a little more casual or 'business-casual.'  And if you'd like to give a portrait of yourself to a loved one, we want to make sure you have good options for that, as well.

Let me know if you have any questions.  I'd love to help you with your portrait!

Newly designed patio is perfect for portraits

This post is a belated thank-you to Thyme in the Garden for doing an amazing job with our studio's stone patio.  Previously, an old boxwood hedge surrounded the patio.  If the light was right, I was able to get a few photos there, but usually I avoided the area because the boxwoods looked so tired and unappealing.

To the Rescue!  Thyme in the Garden answered my request for help this last spring.  They brought in beautiful stones salvaged from a farmer's old stone wall and then Debby and Robyn pulled the look together with perennials, grasses, and a few annuals.  The look is stunning.

Here are some before, during, and after photos, including a few from one of my fall senior sessions.

It is such a joy to be able to photograph in my new patio portrait garden!  Here is a CCHS senior sitting on one of our new rocks, perfectly sized for portraits.

Thinking ahead to Autumn and Family Portrait Season

While we are still booking a few more beach portrait sessions (through August...), we are also looking ahead to our fall portrait season.

Our portrait garden has been designed to offer amazing backdrops no matter the time or the season.  We have a wide range of trees that start to change color in mid-September and go through the end of October.  I have been able to even take fall portraits in early-mid November (but that's only in a pinch; let's try not to push it out that far, please!).

Peak foliage times around Concord, MA start late September (when there is still a lot of green on the trees but there are hints of color in the foliage) to late October (many trees have lost their leaves, but there are still plenty of photo opportunities).

Not only is our portrait garden designed specifically for photography, but the streets around our studio are lined with stone walls and there is even a meadow across the street.  Photographer's Heaven!

Meet Our New Chicks!

Who says hybrid photography is only for humans?  Our brand new chicks took to the studio today for their first photo session.  These adorable little chicks (born yesterday, I'm told) peeped and cheeped, pecked and pitter-pattered.  When they were done, they went back to their heat lamp and took a nap.

For those curious about chickens, we have two Araucanas (we are raising them for a neighbor; they will eventually lay blue, pink or green colored eggs!), one Buff Orpington (now darker yellow, eventually she will be light brown), one Tetra Tint (now light yellow, eventually she will be white), one Black Sex Link, and one black Australorps.

I was surprised to find that they hatched with personalities already in place.  Our black Australorps emerged on the wrong side of the egg, we figure.  He/she is a malcontent who was nipping his little friends from the moment I first saw him/her.  This little one settled down a bit after getting some food and water, but is definitely the most feisty one.  I wouldn't be surprised if he is a cockerel (future rooster) because of his feisty nature.

The two Araucanas look like little chipmunks and are very entertaining.  One of them, upon discovering the food trough, put her head through the hole, nibbled a bit, then fell asleep - with her head in the hole and her feet sticking up.

Enjoy the video!

Another Great Portrait Session in the Studio

I had the pleasure of photographing a lovely young woman last week.  While we photographed her in several outfits and many poses, we also added some video clips and I created this movie for her.

I create Moving Portraits....  Call today to schedule a session for your child or family.

Moving Portraits - Photos and video in one web-friendly movie.

I am so excited about something new we are offering our portrait clients.  Video clips taken during portrait sessions can now be added to a short movie for use in eProducts such as eCards, social media posts, and talking business cards.  More samples will be coming soon but, for now, enjoy this movie of a young girl who visited the studio this weekend.  Let me know what you think!

Won blue ribbon at MA Professional Photography Image Competition

I'm excited about this weekend's image competition at the Professional Photographer's Association of MA annual convention in Plymouth, MA.  All my prints won ribbons, including blue and red.  Check out the images....

"Making a Splash!" was taken last summer at a summer swim league championship race in Lincoln, MA.  I love the colors, vibrancy, and the detail in the water droplets on the swimmer's body and goggles.  I was pleased to see this image win a blue ribbon.

This little cutie is definitely a favorite image of mine.  He did great in competition and won a red ribbon.

I love the autumn hues in "Autumn Beauty."  This lovely young woman visited the studio in the fall for a portrait session in our garden and conservation land nearby.  We had a great time and captured many wonderful images.

"Sister Act" was my final entry in the competition.  I love how these sisters are interacting in these images; their expressions are priceless!

September sunflowers and golden glowing light = amazing portraits!

I had the pleasure of photographing these two girls with a bouquet of bright yellow sunflowers yesterday.  The early autumn/late summer light (it's the equinox today!!!)  lent a lovely golden glow to these late afternoon portraits.

This girl looked lovely as the late afternoon sunlight cast a glow about her.
